Cheese Rolls

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

375g tin evaporated milk
200ml cream
½ small onion, grated
¼ tsp ground pepper
500g grated edam cheese
1 x 32g packet of onion soup mix
100g butter
1 Tbsp chopped chives
1 loaf of Ploughmans Rustic White bread
Chopped chives or parsley to serve

Method

  1. Slowly simmer the evaporated milk, cream, onion, and soup packet in a medium pot.
  2. Add the cheese and stir until it has melted over a low heat. Remove and cool.
  3. Preheat the oven to 170C—line two baking trays with paper.
  4. Butter one side of the bread then spread with a tablespoon of the cheese mixture. Roll tightly. Place the bread on the tray, cut side down. Brush the outside with any remaining butter.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes until golden and oozing.
